Volunteer Spotlight - Gillian Mortimer
Gillian, a British national, arrived at WICE in January 2010. Having worked for many years in the non-profit sector in Britain, she was able to step in immediately as the Deputy Program Coordinator. Her first project was to co-organize (on very short notice) a cocktail party for volunteers, which proved to be a great success!
Gillian’s previous professional experience has included working with the Biodiversity Action Team of BCTV, a social and environmental conservation charity. Her role as Project Officer meant that she was involved in all aspects of program management and execution.
A graduate of the South Bank University as well as St. Catherine’s College, Cambridge, Gillian also has a keen interest in outdoor sports and travelling.
Gillian currently volunteers on the Board of Directors at WICE. She was also instrumental in re-designing and upgrading the WICE membership and programs database – almost single-handedly! Enthusiastic, hardworking and always willing to help, Gillian has become a vital part of the WICE team. Congratulations Gillian.
