In this French Film class, you will watch a film at home before class. Available on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Orange Video on Demand, Google Play, iTunes or YouTube. In class, the film will be used as a basis for a language lesson with cultural points and discussion.

Watching films can be a powerful tool for learning a language and improving cultural knowledge.  It can be entertaining and enjoyable, which breaks psychological barriers that arise in traditional language learning.  Dialogue in films exposes you to authentic spoken language, a rich range of vocabulary and idiomatic expressions anchored in a meaningful context, all of which aids understanding and retention.

The main purpose of this course is increasing vocabulary, improving conversational skills and learning French culture via the movies presented.

  • Le Dernier Métro (1980)
