SF071 Creative photography - Portfolio Review and Printing Process

Receiving feedback of our images and work is essential for advancing our technique and style. Students will learn how to organize their photos by theme, maintaining coherence between images within a series. They  will learn how to build and present a personal portfolio to a gallery or a photography competition along with the printing process.

Students will also learn how to chose the right photography paper for their images, along with the technical printing process adapted to their needs. During class, participants will show their images and receive feedback from the instructor and other students.

If you are working on a project or you wish to start a personal project, this workshop is for you!

Students can expect to:

  • Learn about how to organize images by theme
  • Learn how to select the best images and why
  • Learn about how to present a professional portfolio
  • Critique their own work
  • Find a personal style by analyzing their images
  • Learn on printing process Course requirements:
  • Suitable for all levels of photography.
  • Students are invited to bring their images (printed or in USB). They can also bring their laptops.

Juan Manuel Abellán is a professional fine art photographer and photography tutor based in Paris since 2007. He graduated in Advertising and Visual Arts and holds a Master in Art, philosophy and aesthetics, specialized in Photography and Contemporary Art. He has worked with the agency Magnum Photo and exhibited his work in several exhibitions, including at the Centre Georges Pompidou. Passionate about photography, Juan Manuel works as a freelance photographer with a specialization in portrait, reportage and fine art photography. He is also an experimented leader of photography adventure tours around the world.
