Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to magically create a beautiful object with just a couple of needles and a ball of yarn? Has Tom Daley knitting at the Olympics inspired you? Or is there a fond memory of your grandma knitting sweaters for Christmas that you’d like to revive? Whatever your motivation, knitting is fashionable again, so come and join the international family of knitters. In this class, we will dive into knitting a pouch and a cowl using the basic techniques. A little bit of theory and tips on where to find patterns will prepare you to let your imagination run wild and knit on your own afterwards.

Students Can Expect to:

• Receive all materials and tools required to create and complete their projects (a pouch and a cowl) but please bring a pair of scissors

• Learn the two existing knit stitches (knit and pearl) as well as how to cast on and bind off stitches and craft pieces together

• Learn the terminology and how to apply patterns to create objects that reflects their individual style and be able to go on knitting afterwards

Thomas Kopp was born and raised in Germany where he learned to knit and crochet in school at the age of ten. He has never let his needles drop idle since and 45 years later, he has knitted a large variety of projects, from sweaters, gloves and socks to intricate lace scarfs, both based on patterns in English and French when he moved to Paris in 1986. He is actively involved in knitting for charity as a member of Knitted Knockers, an American association providing special handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies. www.knittedknockers.org
