General Questions
What is WICE?
WICE is an all-volunteer, non-profit association based in Paris, France. Our mission is to strengthen relationships between Francophone and Anglophone communities by providing a variety of cultural, linguistic, and social activities that bring people together.
Who can join?
We welcome English-speaking members from all countries, religions, genders, and personal beliefs. We do not promote any political party or philosophy and encourage our members to express themselves with tolerance and respect for others.
Do I need to speak French?
No. WICE activities, except French classes, are conducted in English. While it’s not necessary to speak any French, we do offer a variety of convivial opportunities to learn and practice the language.
What types of activities does WICE offer?

What language are activities conducted in?
All WICE activities are conducted in English unless otherwise specified. French language classes are conducted in French.
How do I stay informed about upcoming events and courses?
You can subscribe to our newsletter, WICE Direct, to receive regular updates about upcoming activities, courses, and special events.
Can I suggest a new activity or start a group?
We’d love to hear your ideas. Please contact us at wice@wice-paris.org.
How do I pay?
The following payment options are available for pay WICE membership fees or course fees:
● Credit card: You can pay by Visa through WICE’s secure Stripe payment system.
● PayPal: If you have a personal PayPal account, you can pay by PayPal via: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/wiceparis
● Check: You can send checks, payable to WICE in euros, to the following address. (Be sure to include the name of the course or activity you’re paying for.)

How do I become a member?

When does my membership renew?
Unlike some other organizations, your WICE membership year is specific to you. It renews on the anniversary of the date you joined. Renewals are not automatic — you’ll receive a reminder from the membership team before your membership expires.
Can I cancel my membership?
You can cancel your membership subscription at any time by contacting wice@wice-paris.org.

Activities & Events Questions
How do I register for an activity or class?
Once you choose an activity or class, open the event page and click the “Register” button located below the practical information section on the left side of the page.
Are activities held in person or online?
Both. The format depends on the activity and is always specified on each event page.
How do I know my French level before registering?
Please visit our Languages & Film Discussion Page ↗️ to access the placement tests.
How often are new events added to the calendar?
WICE renews its program every three months, but additional events and spontaneous activities may be added throughout the trimester.
What happens if an event is cancelled?
If an event is cancelled, registered participants will be notified by email.
What if an event is full?
Most events include a waitlist. If no spots are available, you can join the waitlist and will be notified by email if additional places open.
What is your refund policy?
Refund policies may vary depending on the event or activity. Specific details are provided on each event page. If you need a refund instead of a credit, WICE will deduct 5% to cover the service charges involved in processing your money. As a nonprofit, volunteer organization, we need to keep administrative expenses to the minimum.
Volunteer Questions
How can I volunteer?
As an all-volunteer, non-profit association, WICE runs on the energy and talents of our committed volunteers – and we’re always looking for more.

How much time is expected from volunteers?
The expected time commitment depends on the role. Volunteer positions may range from approximately 5–6 hours per week to 20 hours per week.
Can volunteering help me build professional skills?
Absolutely. Volunteering at WICE can help you build practical skills in areas such as communication, marketing, project management, event organization, and teamwork. We are also happy to provide recommendation letters for committed volunteers.
Are volunteer roles remote or in person?
It depends on the role. Most coordination, organization, and marketing roles are primarily remote, although volunteers occasionally meet in person for important projects, events, and initiatives.
