Course description

This class invites you to enjoy painting with a small group in the convivial atmosphere of Jan Olsson's private studio.

Painting is a craft. It need not be intimidating but it does require patience and practice to master technique as you learn to express yourself.

Students can expect to:

  • Develop knowledge and skill in both watercolor and acrylic painting.
  • Benefit from the instruction of a practicing artist and experienced teacher.
  • Receive challenging assignments and constructive criticism.
  • Share their learning experience with a small, supportive group.
This course is designed for:
  • Anyone who would like to try painting but finds it hard to begin.
  • Students who wish to improve their knowledge of color and composition.
  • Those who seek time for creativity and the structure of weekly classes.
  • Anyone who paints on their own but would like exposure to new challenges and supportive criticism of their work.
Course requirements

This class is suitable for all levels. Acrylic paints, mediums and gesso are supplied. Instructions for choosing art supplies, including addresses of Paris art supply stores and a suggested list of additional materials, will be offered at the first class meeting.
