As we journey well into the third decade of the 21st century, the world around us continues to evolve at an exhilarating pace, propelled by technological innovation. At WICE, we recognize the importance of ensuring that our members have the tools, knowledge, and confidence to navigate this tech-centric landscape. To that end, we have developed our Technology program, designed to support, educate, and empower WICE members in all things technological.

Monthly Technology Support Sessions: Free for all WICE members, these online Zoom sessions provide a friendly and approachable space to seek assistance with a wide array of tech challenges. Whether you're grappling with a perplexing printer problem, exploring a French government website, or simply looking to install a new app, our team of tech-savvy WICE members is here to guide you. With a focus on collaboration and problem-solving, these sessions make technology feel accessible and enjoyable.

Monthly Tech Classes: Want to discover advanced Google search techniques or unlock the full potential of your iPhone's features? Our expert-led classes, usually conducted via Zoom, dive into these topics and more. With hands-on learning and practical insights, these classes will enhance your digital proficiency, unlocking new avenues for exploration and productivity. These classes are typically free for WICE members, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to grow their tech skills.

Individual Tech Support Sessions. For more personalized attention, WICE's resident "techxpert" offers one-on-one support sessions to help you tackle those particularly thorny tech problems. Priced at €50 an hour, these tailored sessions provide dedicated support, ensuring that your unique technological needs are met with patience, expertise, and clarity.

At WICE, our Technology program is more than a set of services; it's a commitment to ensuring that every member feels confident and capable in our increasingly connected world. By bridging the gap between technology and everyday life, we aim to enhance your experience, broaden your horizons, and cultivate a community that is not only in step with the times but actively shaping the future.

Join us as we explore, learn, and adapt, embracing the exciting possibilities that the world of technology has to offer. Together, we are not just keeping pace with the 21st century; we are thriving within it.

As a general rule, our technology events are on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings of each month, although this may change from time to time. You can be kept abreast of this program by subscribing to our newsletter, WICE Direct, by following us on FaceBook, or by simply keeping an eye on this page.

    Your tech questions answered!

Having trouble with Zoom? Don't understand cookies? Confused by the WICE website? Like to know how to connect to a printer using your phone's bluetooth/hotspot as Wifi? Like to share your screen during a Zoom meeting?

You can get help with all your technology problems from the friendly and knowledgeable WICE tech team.

In this program, WICE volunteers Jonathan Weiland, Mike Franks, and Dania Lawand will host an online tech support session exclusively for WICE members.

Here’s your chance to feel more comfortable with your tech devices and get answers to your specific questions for free.

These sessions, on Zoom, will have three parts:

    1.    The tech team will cover a few general topics like how to update Zoom (a must-do) and how to sign up for an event on the WICE website.

    2.    Team members will answer questions that have been submitted in advance. (You can email your questions/problems to techquestions@wice-paris.org, or you can include them when you register.)

    3.    Q and A session with Zoom participants.

These talks will be informal, about an hour long. We plan to have them regularly, about once a month on the first Tuesday.

With "Apps for You" we introduce and review 2 - 3 smart phone applications we think may be pertinent to WICE members. This month we have two powerful apps that can help you improve your French or English.

    1. DeepL. Billed as "the world's most accurate translator," DeepL is an AI-powered language translator that can perform wonders with verbal and written translations in 29 languages (including French, of course). Whether you're translating formal French documents or trying to ask the butcher what that strange thing in the display case is, DeepL can usually easily take you through the process, both on the desktop and on your mobile.

    2. LangAI. LangAI is a language tutor powered by ChatGPT. With it you can engage in immersive conversations and receive instant feedback and corrections. You can also adapt your learning experience to the topics you're interested in with personalized conversations. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced learner, LangAI can adapt to your individual needs and progress. And as with DeepL, this is available on both the desktop and your mobile.

Free for WICE members, but registration is required. A Zoom link will be sent before the clas
