Intrigued by the variety of modes and settings on your camera? Get away from the simple choice of shooting with an automatic mode by mastering when to use the other settings.

This course explores in-depth the manual mode factors of ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. You'll analyze the interaction among them and learn when to apply the manual mode settings. Each class starts with an explanation of each element and continues with practical work in difficult lighting conditions. A review and suggestions of your images will follow.

Students can expect to:

  • learn about the manual mode settings on their camera;

  • learn about ISO, shutter speeds, and how to tackle challenging light situations;

  • get hands-on experience with practical assignments;

  • participate in a friendly critique of their work.

Course requirements

  • Suitable for beginner and intermediate photographers; advanced level also welcome.  Participants are to bring a camera that can manually set the ISO, shutter speed, and aperture.
