Drawing has the power to enrich anyone’s life. Adult learners come to a drawing class for many reasons: some have been drawing since childhood, others have longed to try drawing but have either doubted their ability or have not yet found the right opportunity.
This class offers an opportunity for everyone interested in drawing to enjoy expert, individualized instruction within a small group setting.
Three 3-week long sessions meet throughout the spring in various locations: indoors in the instructor’s studio, in museums or cafés, outdoors along the Seine, in parks and in other inspiring locations throughout Paris.
Techniques in pencil, charcoal, ink, pastels, and watercolor are taught along with drawing skills that include light and shade, depth, perspective and proportion. Go to Jan OLSSON’s teaching blog to see examples of her students’ drawings along with photos of her classes.
Specialty papers and drawing ink are provided. A supply list and addresses of Paris art supply stores will be provided at the first class meeting.
About the instructor: Prior to settling in Paris, Jan Olsson was awarded the Professional Fellowship in Painting from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Her paintings have been exhibited in Paris’ most competitive juried exhibitions and are included in both private and museum collections. Visit her professional website and teaching blog.
