When John Christie built a small opera house in 1934 for his wife at his country estate south of London, no one could have imagined that Glyndebourne would become famous for its annual opera festival-cum black tie picnic on the lawn, which attracts 150,000 visitors per year. Do you dream of attending? Well, tickets are almost impossible to come by, to say nothing of the organization on the ground: arrangements for picnics, accommodation & travelling to and from Glyndebourne. Ask our speaker, who founded Mitmuse which tailors excursions to this amazing place as well as to other English opera festivals. The dream is there, but often peppered with nightmares, which Mitmuse must manage without its clients – some of them real “pieces of work” - being aware. Come hear about the pleasures and pitfalls she faces for the sake of culture!
