Classical music rarely fills stadiums the way rock concerts do, but for those who listen to it, it imparts pleasure, exhilaration , longing, joy, sorrow – human emotions which set us apart from most other living creatures.
How do composers achieve this feat with the help of pieces of wood and brass shaped into objects? WICE is proud to present a new series of classes dedicated to classical music which will bring us closer to answering that question. Each class will focus on one composer, describing not only his life and work, but also, through music excerpts of a few characteristic compositions, demonstrating what makes them stylistically special, and to classical music lovers, actually magical.
The three featured composers are:
Wednesday, 18 October 2017 - Johannes Brahms: Master of the Sublime
Wednesday, 15 November 2017 - Giacomo Puccini, the composer of Love!
Friday, 8 December 2017 - Franz Liszt: a 19th Century Rock Star!
