A beautiful portrait can give us insight into the expression, personality and mood of a subject.

The focus is usually on the face but context and background may be included.

The participant will learn how to deal with any kind of available light, indoor and outdoor.

This course offers participants a special understanding of professional portraiture by practicing and by analyzing the great figures of the contemporary scene. You’ll get practical advice on applying lighting techniques.

A review and suggestions for your images will follow.

Students can expect to:

  • Learn the keys to portraiture photography;
  • Learn about lighting techniques;
  • Get hands-on experience with practical assignments;
  • Participate in a friendly critique of their work.

Suitable for all levels of photographer.  Participants are to bring a camera that can manually set ISO, shutter speed, and aperture, and/or are able to set a manual mode.  A lens of approximately 50mm and/or 85mm full frame is highly recommended.
