From John the Fearless’5th century tower to the elegant Place des Victoires built in honor of Louis XIV, to the lovely covered passages of the 19th century and some early 20th century industrial buildings, explore this arrondissement packed with history, and see how it has changed over time. Find out the history of people like Etienne Marcel and the Countess of Berry. Discover where the city walls once stood. See where diligences and stagecoaches stopped. See some of the oldest restaurants in Pairs and Louis XV’s favorite pastry shop. This walk is packed with surprises.

Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for the weather.  Those who wish may join the instructor for lunch after the tour.

Instructor: Lee Hubert, B.A. Boston University, French and English, is a longtime resident of Paris.
