“Un jardin secret” is the French expression for “a private space for an activity that one practices only for oneself”, and a perfect description of a summer afternoon spent sketching in one of Paris’ best kept secret gardens. The moment you enter the gate at La Ruche, you travel back in time to “la belle époque” in Montparnasse where Chagall, Soutine, and other legendary artists lived and worked.
Enjoy visiting the site with one of its contemporary artists and current residents and spend a couple of magical hours within its garden walls, a hundred years and a world away from the city.
This class welcomes all levels. Your registration fee includes the cost of materials including a sketchbook, pencils, pen and colored markers.
About the Instructor: Prior to settling in Paris, Jan Olsson was awarded the Professional Fellowship in Painting from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Her paintings have been exhibited in Paris' most competitive juried exhibitions and are included in both private and museum collections.
