Nature is an endless source of inspiration for artists and designers. With sketchbook in hand, this class meets in the beautiful Parisian Jardin des Plantes, to study, record, and draw inspiration from the shapes and patterns offered by the garden, its greenhouse, and its natural history museum.

Enjoy the adventure of this class for its own rewards and then consider continuing the pleasure by attending the following one in November, Matisse Cut-Outs: An Adventure in Color. Simple line drawings from flowers, leaves, shells and other natural forms became the shapes and patterns that inspired one of France’s most beloved artists during his later years.

A supply list will be made available before the start of this class, and meeting points will be confirmed 24 hours ahead of each meeting.

Course Requirements: Suitable for all levels.

About the Instructor: Prior to settling in Paris, Jan Olsson was awarded the Professional Fellowship in Painting from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.  Her paintings have been exhibited in Paris’ most competitive juried exhibitions and are included in both private and museum collections.
