Located in the Latin Quarter, la Sorbonne University is the most famous university in France, specializing in Social Sciences. The seat of the University of Paris until the Revolution, and politically influential, it was founded in 1257 by Robert de Sorbon and Saint Louis(Charles IX) and rebuilt twice from 1600 to 1650 upon the wishes of the Cardinal Richelieu and then again during the 19th century.

Join us to discover this magnificent palace by visiting the entrance hall, the main staircase, the courtyard, the large amphitheatre, the wide reception rooms with their splendid paintings.

This visit will give you an insight into the history and architecture of this remarkable institution.

About the Instructor: Catherine Estivalezes holds a PhD in British and American Studies from the Sorbonne and has been involved for years in a foundation for promoting contemporary art, before getting back to art history studies. She has several years of experience in guiding, including districts, monuments, museums, and temporary exhibitions.
