Lockdown Talks - THE MAKING OF THE VILLE LUMIÈRE PART 2

  • 15 Apr 2020
  • 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
  • Remote

How did Paris become the world's most beautiful city? After last week’s talk explaining how Paris took on its current configuration of Cité - Ville - Université during the Middle Ages, this week’s talk resumes with the arrival of the Renaissance in France and Paris following François 1er’s coronation in 1515, and ends with the reign of Henri IV (1589-1610), the first great urban planner of Paris, who built some of the city’s most iconic structures.

About the Presenter: Russell Kelley, author of The Making of Paris, will give the second of a series of three lectures accompanied by over 100 images, focusing on the structures that can still be seen today. The series will continue through Lockdown, so keep checking the WICE website for the times of future lectures.

The meeting will take place using the Zoom video conferencing tool.
