In the heart of the Marais, between a courtyard and a garden, the Musée Cognacq Jay presents an exceptional art collection of18th century paintings by Boucher, Chardin and Fragonard, drawings by Watteau, sculptures and furniture and precious items such as jewels, snuffboxes, Dresden china…

The collection is the life achievement of Ernest and Louise Cognacq Jay, founders of the Samaritaine department store, who devoted a great part of their fortune to recreate this wonderful “Art de Vivre,” a reflection of the refined society of the Paris salons. Come and discover with our guide this exceptional art collection of the 18th century well-known for its elegance and sophistication in the intimate atmosphere of the 16th century Hotel Donon.
