Step into the dynamic world of Black and White photography as we capture the charm and old-world feel of Île Saint-Louis. We’ll meet at internationally known photographer Meredith Mullins’ 17th century studio to discuss creative and technical elements and to review the fundamentals of how photography is different when you are “seeing and creating” in dramatic and elegant black and white. Then, we will step outside and explore, doing a few exercises as a group followed by individual work. The work from class and from a home assignment will be discussed in a review session two weeks after the initial class.

Anyone who would like to stay after class for a social lunch (and further discussion) is welcome. All levels and all types of cameras welcome.

What to Expect:

The workshop will consist of two parts: an introduction lecture/discussion featuring practical information, a review of the work of notable photographers, and creative outdoor practise guided by the instructor. Two weeks later, we will meet again physically or online for a review of the images created in response to the assignment.
