Tired of wading through ads at the  top of your Google search results? Frustrated by having dig through pages of off-topic links to find that thing you were looking for?

In this class, we will examine a number of common techniques for refining and focusing your search query, helping ensure you'll get what you're looking for sooner.

These techniques include searching for specific types of files (e.g., PDF, Excel, etc.), searching specific domains (e.g, educational institutes, government organizations, etc.), excluding specified results from your search,  applying logical operators (OR, AND), and much more. If time permits, we will examine methods journalists use to do advanced searches. Note: this is not a general Q&A session.

Free for WICE members, but registration is required.

A Zoom link will be sent to attendees before the class.

Rick Jones has a Masters of Science in Information Technology Management from George Washington University. Since graduating in 2002, he has held a number of technology development positions at various U.S. government and commercial organizations. He has been living in France since July 2018.
