Museum collections as well as traveling exhibits in Paris feature many outstanding figurative drawings and paintings by artists over the ages from DaVinci to Francis Bacon.

What makes these paintings so compelling? They tell our stories visually through pictures of the human figure in action and portray our shared emotions. In addition to the artist’s hard earned skill in depicting the figure, composition is a key to the expressive force and beauty of a successful work of art.

Learn fundamental elements of composition and how to apply them to drawing and painting from the model, both nude and clothed. Props and backgrounds enhance the model’s pose and add thematic interest. This session features long poses and studies of the model as featured in historical as well as contemporary art.

Both beginners and practiced students are welcome.

Instructor: Jan Olsson holds a Master of Fine Arts in Drawing and is an engaging teacher with many years of experience teaching. She is also a highly skilled practicing artist who exhibits internationally. See the artist's website at http://janolssonart.com for more information and inspiration.
