Like two very different siblings, the Northern Rhône and Southern Rhône wines present their own unique (and lovable) personalities. Nature vs Nurture? A little of both.

The Northern Rhône (a more continental climate) brings us Crozes Hermitage and Côte Rôtie. The Southern Rhône (a more Mediterranean climate) offers crowd pleasers Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas.

What are the differences between exclusively Syrah-based Northern Rhône wines, and the Grenache-based blends from the Southern Rhône? We’ll get acquainted with the archetypical characteristics, then we’ll try our hand at distinguishing them blind. We risk impressing ourselves.
