This workshop focuses on the art of film screenplay writing, specifically differences in story structure, thematic concerns and character development between French and Hollywood movies.

Participants will be asked to submit the name of one favorite French fiction film and one favorite English-language fiction film by February 20th. During the course, a selection of films will be analyzed, and creative tools furnished to enhance participants’ storytelling skills. Level: from beginner to intermediate.


About the Instructor

Jon Goldman is a screenwriter for film, television and animation based in Paris since 2017 after previously living in Los Angeles. He has written feature films in development across multiple genres spanning France and the US: family adventure, coming-of-age drama, heist thriller and horror to name a few. His short films Market Hours and Diplomacy have played and won awards at film festivals worldwide.
