This corner of the city is home to many different cultures as well as a range of wildlife.  The 2nd century Arènes de Lutèce is an important site from the era when Roman Paris was known as Lutetia -- place near a swamp. Nearby, the Grande Mosquée is one of the largest in France, and in the opposite direction, the Institut du Monde Arabe has an ongoing program of curated exhibitions, and is dedicated to scholarly research about the Arab world and the dissemination of Arab culture. A stroll through the Jardin des Plantes will reveal many of the large and small creatures that have lived there.

About the organizer: Wherever she has lived, Deborah loves to explore her surroundings and Paris offers many opportunities for this flâneuse. The areas we explore may offer a different perspective or be off the beaten track - as well as having a lovely walk you are sure to learn something new.

P.S. These walks avoid steep steps and hills!

Meet at Place Mohammed V (near to Pont de Sully on the Left Bank) an open space where we should be able to see each other!
