One of the best ways to learn photography is by visiting exhibitions under the tutelage of an experienced photographer. Join us for an insightful visit to the Henri Cartie- Bresson Foundation with professional photographer Juan Manuel Abellán to explore, discuss, and analyze two compelling exhibitions currently on display: "Remember to Forget" by Mame-Diarra Niang and "The Inhabitants" by Raymond Meeks.
About the Exhibitions:
1. Mame-Diarra Niang – Remember to Forget
This exhibition explores the fluid and ever-evolving nature of identity. Niang’s innovative approach abstracts the concept of the Black body, seeking to liberate it from centuries of imposed narratives. Her works, created during a period of confinement, use techniques like re-photographing screens and embracing flaws such as blurs and distortions. These elements serve as a psychological projection of her self-exploration, asking profound questions about the nature of personal and collective memory.
2. Raymond Meeks – The Inhabitants
As part of the prestigious Immersion program by Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, Meeks presents a poignant photographic series capturing the traces of migration in France. His work focuses on landscapes shaped by temporary human presence—discarded belongings, improvised shelters, and the inhospitality of transitional spaces. Through metaphorical imagery, Meeks uses natural and man-made barriers to evoke the resilience and challenges faced by migrants.
