Course Description: Want to write but you don't know how to start? Or are you an experienced writer who feels stuck? Fear of the blank page is normal, but there are ways to overcome it. This course will explore tips and techniques to get your pen flowing. Emphasis will be on generating new ideas and material so you will walk away with many new avenues to pursue and strategies to continue writing long after the class is over. Appropriate for all genres as we'll be using a variety of prompts and exercises for fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Come put the play back into writing!

Instructor: Sion Dayson holds an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her stories, essays, and poems have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Hunger Mountain, Utne Reader and the anthologies Strangers in Paris (Tightrope Books) and Seek It: Writers and Artists Do Sleep (Red Claw Press), among other venues. Her novel manuscript was on the short list for finalists in the William Faulkner - William Wisdom Competition. She blogs about the City of Light’s quirkier side at paris (im)perfect.
