The Basilique Saint Denis has been the last resting place of French Kings and Queens since the 6th century CE. On this visit with a twist you will be able to explore the basilica and in the form of a simple treasure hunt discover some well-known and not-so-well-known monarchs of France.

The visit will start with lunch in a nearby café/brasserie where your group leader and WICE member Suzanne Gurney will explain the format of the afternoon, introduce the basilica, and show you pictures of some of the more interesting tombs, windows and effigies. *NOTE* Suzanne is not a tour guide and she will not be conducting a formal guided tour.

You will then each be given a card with some questions whose answers can be found by exploring the basilica at your own pace. You can do this individually or team up with someone else if you wish. You will have about an hour inside the basilica to do this and explore the church.

Afterwards, everyone will reconvene at the café to compare answers. Suzanne will have marked them and the winner with the most correct answers will receive a small prize.

The standard entrance fee to the Basilica is 11€ (concessions are available), payable by participants. You are requested to purchase a ticket in advance: www.https://www.saint-denis-basilique.fr/

The Métro station is Basilique de Saint Denis, Line 13. Meet inside the Métro at Sortie 1, Passage de l'Aqueduc/Hotel de Ville, BEFORE the escalator to exit the metro.
