Join Us for a Guided Tour of Martin Parr’s Documentary Photography

Explore the works of Martin Parr, one of the best-known documentary photographers, at the Jeu de Pomme center of art and international creation.

Juan Manuel Abellàn, fine arts photographer, is hosting a guided tour of Global Warning, an exhibition of Parr’s work. Parr used his own blend of humor, and vivid color to capture the ironies of consumer habits, leisure activities, and tourism. Although no activist, Parr's works portray a striking portrait of the imbalances and excesses of our lifestyles across all corners of the world.

We will meet at the gallery in the morning. After the exhibition we will have a feedback session at a café/brasserie.

What you can expect:

  • Guided tour of the exhibition
  • Critique of the exhibition
  • An analysis of the artist’s work and his use of the photography medium.
  • Participate in a friendly feedback session after the exhibition

Please note:

  • The museum ticket price (€14) is not included in the course price.
  • The €55 fee for non-WICE members includes a 3-month membership to WICE.
  • Cancellation with refund is available until Monday, 16 February.

About the instructor:

Juan Manuel Abellán is a professional fine art photographer and photography tutor based in Paris since 2007. He graduated in Advertising and Visual Arts and holds a Master in Art, philosophy and aesthetics, specialized in Photography and Contemporary Art. He has worked with the agency Magnum Photo and exhibited his work in several exhibitions, including at the Centre Georges Pompidou. Passionate about photography, Juan Manuel works as a freelance photographer with a specialization in portrait, reportage and fine art photography. He is also an experimented leader of photography adventure tours around the world.
