One of the best ways to learn photography is to visit exhibitions and photo shops. We will visit the Guido Guidi exhibition and analyze his work and its meaning.

About the exhibition:

LE BAL pays tribute to Guido Guidi, a major figure in European photography. Since the 1960s, his reflections on the language of the image have shaped one of the most distinctive photographic poetics of our time. 

Born in Italy in 1941, Guidi belongs to a generation that profoundly redefined the relationship between photographic language and the perception of landscape. His attention moves between fragments of everyday environments and emblematic works of architecture. By giving equal attention to the ordinary and the monumental, to overlooked details as well as established forms, Guidi has gradually developed a radical approach that has made him a key reference in the history of photography.

Students can expect:

  • A guided tour of the exhibition
  • An analysis of the artist’s work and how he uses the photography medium.
  • A friendly feedback session after the exhibition

Pricing

Museum ticket price (€8) is not included in the course price. We will purchase tickets tickets on the day.

For insurance purposes, all attendees must be WICE members. We include a three-month WICE membership with the price for the general public. 

About the instructor:

Juan Manuel Abellán is a professional fine art photographer and photography tutor based in Paris since 2007. He graduated in Advertising and Visual Arts and holds a Master in Art, philosophy and aesthetics, specialized in Photography and Contemporary Art. He has worked with the agency Magnum Photo and exhibited his work in several exhibitions, including at the Centre Georges Pompidou. Passionate about photography, Juan Manuel works as a freelance photographer with a specialization in portrait, reportage and fine art photography. He is also an experimented leader of photography adventure tours around the world.
