Moving along the path of our Painting Studio, this Part III, embraces important Paris expositions.

Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera will be featured at the Orangerie starting Autumn, 2013.

Kahlo’s self-portraits, painted in a surrealist manner, on wood panels of rather small format, depict not only her own image, but anecdotes from her life, her dreams, and her fantasies.

To empower these images Kahlo used the “retablo” format of Mexican religious paintings. This session will be an opportunity to learn to work with acrylic glazes and collage techniques to create a narrative “retablo” from a subject of your choosing.

Both beginners and practiced painters are welcome.

Instructor: Jan Olsson holds a Master of Fine Arts in Drawing and is an engaging teacher with many years of experience in teaching. She is also a highly skilled practicing artist who exhibits internationally.
