The Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, bounded to the south by the Boulevard Périphérique and to the north by the Parc Montsouris was founded just after World War I. Its founders, driven by a humanist ideal, sought to create “a school of human relations to promote peace” with a view to fostering harmony between different nations by furthering friendship between its residents.

Every year this foundation accommodates 12,000 students, researchers and artists from more than 140 countries in its 40 houses. So far 35 countries and many wealthy art patrons have participated in this worthy project by constructing buildings.

La Cité Universitaire is a typical exhibition of 20th century architecture, with its 40 houses and one of the largest landscaped gardens in Paris.

Please join us on a guided tour and visit 3 exceptional buildings: the Swiss Foundation built by the visionary architect Le Corbusier (the first building created in la Cité), the Deutsch Foundation building and the American Foundation.

Instructor: Guide to be provided by the cité universitaire.
