Exhibition Lecture Series

This is the first major retrospective in over 40 years dedicated to the founder of Cubist art: Georges Braque.  This exhibit will reunite works of art primarily from the Pompidou collection as well as:  The United States, Germany and Denmark, to name a few. The exhibit re-evaluates the complex relationship between the artist’s body of contemporary work and the literature, music and painting of the time.  Also explored are the more classic French painters par excellence such as Corot or Chardin. The inventor of collage (Braque) is one of the main figures of the Avant-Garde.

Instructor: Cristina Vremes has a background in History of Art and Philosophy.  She holds a BA from University College London (UCL) and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge.  She has held a number of professional positions including the Saatchi Gallery and the Jeu de Paume Gallery.  She is an independent art writer with an emphasis on Renaissance Art, 17th century Dutch painting and Contemporary Art.
