By Rosemary Flannery

We will explore decorative sculpture across Parisian facades from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.  This one-hour talk will cover the architecture and embellishment of historic buildings from the gothic, Renaissance, classical, baroque, rococo and 20th century periods.  Notre Dame, the Cluny Museum, the French Institute and the Hotel de Biron will be featured as we discover how the spirit of the times is captured in ornamental art in Paris.

Rosemary Flannery’s passion for French architecture led to the creation of her book, Angels of Paris: An Architectural Tour through the History of Paris, published in 2012 by The Little Bookroom NYC and distributed by Random House. Rosemary is a graduate of Columbia University and has lived and worked in France, as artist, writer and tour guide, since 1989.  Her articles on Parisian architecture have been published in France Today and in blogs and newsletters worldwide, including S.O.S. PARIS, Sauvegarde de la Patrimoine et Protection de l’Environnement  Rosemary’s tours of Paris focus on art and architecture. The French edition of Angels of Paris will be released in November 2014 by Editions Exergue.
