What if you changed your relationship with words? What if that led you to do your best creative work? Join creative writing teacher and author Cathy Altman Nocquet to think and write about thinking and writing.
The first exercise will confirm your solid creative ability. Next, you'll give form to the negative voice inside you that impedes productivity (we all have one). Giving life to this "character within" allows you to examine your particular "process" and get on with your writing. The challenges that follow will take you through every stage of writing, from inception to editing, leaving you to create with improved confidence and joy.
The traditional approach to writing instruction calls for discussing a text by a famous author before attempting to replicate what's right about it. Instead, we'll work from the inside to confront creativity organically. Only then can you "Write Outside the Lines". Requirements: New writers and experienced writers who are "stuck" welcome, no manuscript necessary. Please bring an empty notebook to the first meeting. Students will receive a copy of the book "Write Outside the Lines: a creativity catapult".
Instructor: Cathy Altman Nocquet made a career of creative thinking while working in international advertising as a writer and strategist.
